THE SYC U-8 "BRIDGE" SOCCER PROGRAM

SYC Soccer is continuing the highly successful “Bridge” Soccer program for the Spring 2010 season.  The program seeks to identify rising Under-8 boys and girls in the Fall (current Under-7 boys and girls this past Spring) that have genuine interest/enthusiasm for the game, have acquired/developed a very basic soccer aptitude faster than many of their teammates, classmates and neighbors and would like to play with children of similar outlook on the game.

The program begins with the selection of qualified and interested coaches. Candidates must meet the criterion developed by the SYC Soccer Commissioners. Candidates are selected following submission of an application "package" that includes a soccer resume, sample training plan, have conducted a "basic" youth training session, licensing courses and completed identifiable seminars and conferences.

Mini-Kickers
Boys and Girls U5 soccer

Each week players will learn skills based on different themes introduced every week.  Children will develop a basic understanding of each element of the game of soccer through games and activities.

The 6 week program is designed around the concept of learning through fun games and play. (Dribbling, passing, shooting, receiving the ball, 1 on 1 moves, footwork and team work).

Players receive professional instruction with Tamir Linhart’s GOLDENBOOT trainers. All children receive an SYC t-shirt and new Mini-kickers receive a size 3 soccer ball.

Registration for the spring closes August 31st.  Sessions will be held Mondays at 4:00 p.m.

House Soccer Policy Change
Posted February 13, 2009
 PLAY WITH GRADE IS BACK!!!

In response to numerous requests over the last few years, and as a result of changes to age group rules for participation in House Soccer All-Star Soccer Tournaments, the SYC Soccer Committee has approved revisions to the House League Structure and Age Group Chart. The changes will permit players with birthdays that fall after the normal age group cut off date to play with their school grade classmates, so long as the player’s birthday is less than one full year after the age group cut off date.

Team Sportsmanship Liaison

TEAM SPORTSMANSHIP LIAISON (TSL) also commonly referred in the past as “field marshal”

When spectators are permitted to watch games from the sidelines, they are obviously very close to the field and in a position to influence a game in ways which they could not if they were in stands in a stadium setting.  Further, since teams and team management personnel may be on the opposite side of the field, there has been no effective way to control disruptive spectator sideline behavior.
