THE MANY SUCCESSES OF ALL SYC LACROSSE TEAMS

In addition to the above accomplishments, all sixteen spring 2009 lacrosse teams played exceptional lacrosse, had a lot of fun, and learned about the game and about life.  On the boys side, in the U15 division, SYC’s U15A team played in the ultra-competitive U15A Large division and played hard throughout the year.  Thanks to coaches Todd Hetherington and his coaching staff.  SYC’s U15B boys team finished the season 8-3, losing in the semifinals of the playoffs to a one-loss Arlington team - another good season from coaches Curt and Matt Donnel.  SYC’s U15C boys finished the season with a 7-2 record.  Congratulations to Joe Owens, Mark O’Neill and Kevin Shaw on a successful season.

In the U13 age group, SYC’s U13A boys, playing in the extremely competitive Large A division, finished third in the division and ended the season with six consecutive wins before falling to Chantilly in the semifinals of the playoffs.  Thanks to coaches Dave Janas, Pete Stewart, Jim Silbermann and George Louie for all their dedication. SYC’s U13B2 boys finished the season ranked third in the southeast division with an 8-4 record.  Congratulations to Jack Kendall and Tom Harlow on a successful season.  The SYC’s U13B1 boys, coached by Clarkson Meredith; Steve Araps; and Marty Holland, finished the season 3-4-2 in the competitive southeast division.

On the girls side, in NVYLL’s U15 division, SYC’s U15B2 girls finished the season at 5-4-1 and finished fourth in the southeast division.  Thanks to the U15B2 coaches Bob Grooms, Dale Warden, Jeff Fuchs, Bob Gaudian and Paul Lockhart for their work with the girls this season. In the U11 division, Jim Silbermann’s team played hard all season in the southeast division.  Thanks to coaches Jim Silbermann, Becky Smith, Marc Bentlin and Mike Cokenour for a fun season.

The developmental U9 and U7 teams, coached by Mike Conley, Kevin Page, Pat Keilb and Douglas Chandler (Boys U9B1); Bill Pevey, Jeff Flewelling and Rodney Worden (Boys U9B2); and Mike Ricci, Marshall Hudson and Patty Weeks (Coed U7), all learned a lot about lacrosse and shared thousands of smiles and laughs. A bright future awaits our budding lacrosse stars.

Thanks again for a great season and we look forward to our continued success!
