SYC is excited to announce the start of registration for our 2024 Tackle Football season. Tackle football provides our youth athletes a unique opportunity to develop fitness, teamwork, discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship. At SYC, our volunteer coaches, all of whom are certified by USA Football, aim to build these skills in a safe and encouraging environment. We strive to challenge our kids to compete, grow, and be their best. We encourage you to join our program NOW!
SYC is a member of the Northern Virginia Youth Football League (NVYFL) (https://nvyfl.org/), the region's premier youth football organization, with more than 15 member clubs and 50 years of experience. Games are played primarily on high school fields throughout Fairfax, Arlington, Prince William, and Loudoun counties. All games are officiated by certified referee groups.
NVYFL is an age/weight based league. Team placement is determined by BOTH age & weight, not age alone. Accordingly, NVYFL holds official weigh-in sessions in August to determine player placement. A current Virginia DMV-issued ID card is REQUIRED for official weigh-ins in August. No other form of ID will be accepted by the NVYFL at the August weigh-ins. Though they will accept some combination of a Passport, military ID, school ID, birth certificate, etc. at late weigh-in sessions, a substantial individual fee is required for those weigh-ins, and late weigh-in will delay your child's official placement onto a team. Accordingly, you are strongly encouraged to obtain a Virginia DMV-issued ID card on or before August 1.

Though we believe our registration prices remain a great value, please understand that increases from last season reflect increased league fees and insurance costs.
*Note: During registration, players may be waitlisted until we determine if there is space on a team. It is critical that an accurate player weight be input. If we are unable to place the player, you will receive a full refund.

Practices:
- Aug 5 - 30: Monday thru Friday (5 days/week) for up to 2 hours between 5pm - 8pm. Practice times and duration will be determined by your player's head coach.
- Sep. 2 - End of Season: Practices are 3 days/week for up to 2 hours in the evenings. Practice days, times and duration will be determined by your player's head coach.
- Weekend scrimmages are likely on August 24/25 and September 7/8. Other scrimmages are at the discretion of the team's head coach.
Games:
- Regular season play opens on September 14, 2024.
- All teams will play 6 or 7 games.
- The top 4 teams in every division will participate in playoff games beginning November 2.
- Most games are scheduled on Saturdays, but some may be held Friday nights or Sundays. Weekday games are rare, but may be necessary if there are weather issues on weekends.

Practices: Our "home" location is at Rolling Valley West Park. All August preseason practice sessions will be held there. After Labor Day, however, we lose the permit for one of the fields at RVW Park. Accordingly, some teams will likely have to hold regular season practices at alternate locations. Addresses are below.

Note: All positions in SYC Football are volunteers and are not paid professionals. We do offer a small discount on your next SYC registration for several positions, but it takes a lot of volunteers to run the program efficiently. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up at Volunteer and we will find the best place to maximize your talents within the organization. This is a great opportunity to spend time with your child and support SYC.

- Head Coach: $50
- Assistant Coach: $25
Volunteers must be registered, complete the risk management application, and complete abuse training to be eligible for credits.
