SYC is a member of the Fairfax County Youth Football League (FCYFL), along with fifteen other youth clubs. FCYFL is an age/weight based league. Team placement is determined by BOTH age & weight, not age alone. Age/Weight Matrix details can be found here. The football season runs Aug-Nov.
FCYFL sets ID card policy. Players must have a Virginia DMV ID card for the 2024 season. NO OTHER FORM OF ID WILL BE ACCEPTED BY FCYFL. Neither a Passport, military ID, school ID, birth certificate, nor any combination thereof will be accepted by FCYFL.
The ID card is not needed for equipment issue, Preseason Camp, nor practices. The ID is only used once, at a mandatory FCYFL weigh-in. Players weigh-in one time only.

*Note: During registration, players may be waitlisted until we determine if there is space on a team. It is critical that an accurate player weight be input. If we are unable to place the player, you will receive a full refund.

Practices:
- Aug 7 - 20: Monday thru Friday (5 days/week) for 2 hours between 5pm - 8pm.
- Aug 21 - Sep 3: Practices may be 3-5 days/week. The number of practice days per week will be determined by your player's Head Coach.
- Effective Sep 4: Practices are 3 days/week. Your player's Head Coach will determine which three days to hold practice.
- Scrimmage on weekends until games begin (mid-September).
Games:
- Regular season play opens on September 15, 2023.
- Games are typically played on a Saturday, but not always. It is not uncommon to play games on a Sunday or Friday.

Note: All positions in SYC Football are volunteers and are not paid professionals. We do offer a small discount on your next SYC registration for several positions, but it takes a lot of volunteers to run the program efficiently. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up at Volunteer and we will find the best place to maximize your talents within the organization. This is a great opportunity to spend time with your child and support SYC.
VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AND CREDITS:
- Deputy Commissioner: $75
- Head Coach: $50
- Assistant Coach: $25
Volunteers must be registered, complete the risk management application, and complete abuse training to be eligible for credits.
