Registration Process

  1. Retrieve your USA Rugby Member ID from https://xplorer.rugby/west-end-syc-rugby/. If you didn't already register with USA Rugby for the Rugby Year that began 1 Sep 2023, you must do so at USA Rugby in order to complete West End/SYC Rugby registration. Our club is listed as West End-SYC. You will upload the USA Rugby Member ID during West End/SYC Rugby registration. USA Rugby has a 2-step process: register for an account and receive a member number; then, continue through the system to pay for the registration.
  2. Tackle players, be prepared to upload age proof (driver's license, birth certificate, or passport) during registration.
  3. Click the REGISTER HERE button at the bottom of this page.
  4. As always, all players will be provided a Spirit Wear shirt to show off to their friends and new players will receive a rugby ball for practicing at home. These items are included with your registration fee.

There will be a mandatory Family Meeting 12 Feb 24 from 715 to 8 pm in Barker Hall at Irving MS.  All players plus at least one parent must attend.

Season Dates

Regular weekday practices begin in January for U16 and 18U boys, February for U14, U16, and 18U girls, and March for all others (weather dependent). 
 

Scrimmages begin on Saturdays in February for U16 and 18U Boys and U14, U16, and 18U Girls. 16 Mar is the first Saturday for all others.  Matches and practices will continue until 11 May. After that, Rugby Virginia will offer the Performance Program (aka all-stars).

We will answer your questions during our Family Meeting: 12 Feb, 715 to 8pm at  Irving MS! This is a mandatory event for all players plus at least one parent.

Days/Times

Please note that TYPICAL TIMING is for planning. Practice times are dependent on our county permit which will be received in February.

Start dates for weekday practices are weather and age dependent.

Coed Tag/FIT TOUCH U6 & U8:  Practices typically on Wednesdays from March 14 through May 9. Typical timing is 6:30PM - 7:30PM. First scrimmage on March 16 and then matches usually on Saturdays beginning after FCPS Spring Break until State Championships on May 11.

Coed Tag/FIT TOUCH, U10, U12 & U14:  Practices typically on Mondays and Wednesdays from March 12 through May 9. Typical timing is 6:30PM - 7:30PM. First scrimmage on March 16 and then matches usually on Saturdays beginning after FCPS Spring Break until State Championships on May 11.

Coed U12 Tackle:  Practices typically on Tues and Thurs from March 5 through May 9. Typical timing is 6:30PM - 8:00PM. First scrimmage on March 16 and then matches usually on Saturdays beginning after FCPS Spring Break until State Championships on May 11.

Coed U14 Tackle:  Practices typically on Mon and Wed from March 4 through May 8. Typical timing is 6:30PM - 8:00PM. First scrimmage on March 16 and then matches usually on Saturdays beginning after FCPS Spring Break until State Championships on May 11.

Girls U12 & U14 Tackle:  Starting in March, practices typically on Tues and Thurs through May 12. Typical timing is 6:00PM - 8:00PM. Matches usually on Saturdays until Chesapeake Conference Championships on May 12.

Girls U16 & 18U Tackle:  February practices on Tues at Lewis HS and Thurs at Rolling Valley West Park. Starting in March, practices typically on Tues and Thurs through May 8. Typical timing is 6:00PM - 8:00PM. First scrimmage on March 2 and then matches usually on Saturdays until Chesapeake Conference Championships on May 12.

Boys U16 & 18U Tackle: January and  February practices on Tues at Lewis HS and Thurs at Rolling Valley West Park.  Staring in March, practices typically on Tues and Thurs through May 8. Typical timing is 6:00PM - 8:00PM. First scrimmage on February 17 and then matches usually on Saturdays until State Championships on May 11.

Practice Location

Off-season training and weekday practices in January and February will be held at Lewis HS and Rolling Valley West Park. March practices will be held at a location in the Springfield area (to be assigned by the county and announced at a later date). April and May practices will be held at Grove Point Park, 6400 Bowie Dr, Springfield.

In our ongoing effort to keep rugby as affordable as possible, we've altered the gear process.

You can buy socks during registration. Socks are now a purchase item and shorts will be provided. We have eliminated practice jerseys.

We're also offering an optional winter pom hat during registration.

Per rugby tradition, we will continue provide the match-day jerseys for all teams.
