The commissioner has three daughters who all played softball with SYC for many years.  He has also been an SYC coach for over 10 years, coaching teams ranging from 8U rec league to 16U travel.  The commissioner received the Champion of Character Award in October 2018 from the Fairfax County Athletic Council.
