Rosemary has been an unmatched, selfless volunteer who over the past seven years has clearly proven she is deserving of this prestigious award. As many of us have, Rosemary began her career with SYC as a volunteer coach for her daughters in the winter of 2004. Her outstanding dedication to her cheerleaders was quickly recognized over her initial years in SYC and, in spring of 2005, Rosemary received the cheer volunteer award at the SYC annual meeting for her dedication and hard work. In the fall 2005, our then-current cheer commissioner was diagnosed with a serious illness, and (as usual) Rosemary agreed to serve as the commissioner without hesitation. The SYC board of directors unanimously elected Rosemary as the Cheer Commissioner in the fall of 2005. Since then she has served as Cheer Commissioner for 12 seasons. During her years a Cheer Commissioner, She restarted Cheer All-Stars and last year she worked with Nancy Cannon to procure new team and all-star uniforms. Concurrent with her duties as Cheer Commissioner, Rosemary also agreed to serve on the SYC Board of Directors in January of 2006. Then, In June 2007, Rosemary was elected to the Executive position of Vice-President of Operations for the board.

To both Cheerleading and to the Board of Directors, Rosemary has brought her tremendous business acumen, a trait that is so important for a non-profit entity serving the youth of our county. Rosemary clearly exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism that makes this organization function, even though much of what she does is often behind the scenes. Rosemary is not only a super volunteer; she is the epitome of service to SYC. Without her, this organization simply would not be the same. Rosemary has done all that she has done for the love of youth activities, thereby exemplifying Paul Westlein and the award named in his honor. Rosemary is also the first woman to be honored with this award.
