At the 2008 Annual Membership Meeting, Dennis Clausen, president of SYC presented this year’s award to Joey Jones. Joey, a long time Springfield resident began his association with SYC as a child playing youth basketball. As an adult volunteer, he served in numerous capacitieswithin the club beginning in the 1980’s.

Joey was elected to the SYC board and gave of his time and intelligence as Vice President and Treasurer for 10 years. He also coached his kids in basketball, softball and football. But his true love has been football. As George Angulo put it “Joey Jones was the most winning coach in SYC football’s recent history, took 4 teams to the Metro Bowl, started the sponsorship program for FB, started the concession stand sales, and ran the financials for football”

Joey Jones has demonstrated the true meaning of volunteerism as exemplified by the Paul Westein Award. Congratulations Joey!
