Dennis Clausen began his long and productive commitment to SYC as a lacrosse and soccer coach.  In 1993, he joined the SYC Board of Directors and was elected Vice President of Operations in

1995.  Dennis took the reins as President of Springfield South County Youth Club in 1996 and served with dignity and professionalism until he resigned earlier this year.  A few of Dennis's accomplishments follow:

• Encouraged the growth and development of SYC by adding girl’s lacrosse, field hockey, rugby, and track and field to SYC’s sports offerings. 
• Coordinated the complete Renovation of Hooes Road Park.
• Spearheaded the installation of a turf field at WSHS.
• Implemented Kid Safe background check system for coaches and volunteers.
• Established the Paul Westlein Award.
• Presided over SYC’s 50th Anniversary Year of Celebration.

Dennis’s steady, unwavering devotion to SYC and keen instincts helped launch our club into the forefront of quality youth sports in Northern Virginia.   He will be missed by all who had the privilege of working with him.
