Play Other Sports!
We at SYC Rugby heartily encourage our players to play other sports throughout the year... as long as they don’t interfere with the rugby season, of course!  ;-)
 
But seriously, we want well-rounded athletes who stay active, and various sports hone skills that are also applicable to rugby:
  • Football is great for kids who aren’t afraid of contact.  It builds courage and confidence to tackle and be tackled.
  • Soccer builds fitness, kicking skills, and sense of space.
  • Basketball builds fitness, ball-handling and jumping skills, and sense of space.
  • Lacrosse builds fitness, hand/eye coordination and ball-handling skills, and sense of space.
Other sports are great, too...  but the ones mentioned above help more with rugby.  So, stay off the couch and join your local team!  And note that Springfield Youth Club offers all these sports.
