Tackle team practices start June 9, and touch team practices start June 16.

All teams U-11 and older practice Tuesdays & Thursdays evenings 6:30-8:00.

U-9 teams practice only on Tuesdays during same time.

Location for all teams during Summer 2009 is Franconia District Park, 6400 Bowie Drive, Springfield.

SYC Rugby has the permit for Franconia District Park fields #3, #4, and #5. Fields #3 and #5 are subject to closure by the Fairfax County Parks Authority during inclement weather; field #4 is a turf field so it rarely gets closed.

Fields #3 and #5 will be used primarily by the touch teams, and #4 by the tackle teams.

So, if on a rainy weekday the FCPA says that Franconia fields #3 and #5 are closed, but #4 is open, that means that the touch teams don’t have practice but the tackle teams do have practice (which they need to ensure proper training and safety). Nearby lightning/thunder is, of course, an exception, but any related decision to cancel practice will be made at practice and not beforehand.
