The Rugby Virginia Tournament is part of the Coventry Commonwealth Games of Virginia.
Schedule & Formats:
- Saturday July 30: Tag rugby in U7, U9, U11, U13, and U15 age groups. Games will run approximately 9:00am-5:00pm. We may combined U13 and U15 tag depending on number of teams entered.
- Sunday July 31: Boys tackle in U13, U15, and U17 age groups; and girls tackle. Games will run approximately 9:00am-6:00pm.
- Format for tackle: U13 and U15 is 11-a-side; U17 and girls is 7-a-side.
- Coaches meetings at 8:30am each day.

Age Groups and Tournament Policies:
Age groups and applicable birth dates are as follows:
- U7: Born 2004 and 2005 (or later)
- U9: Born 2002 and 2003 (or later)
- U11: Born 2000 and 2001 (or later)
- U13: Born 1998 and 1999 (or later)
- U15: Born 1996 and 1997 (or later)
- U17: Born 1994 and 1995 (or later
Any players born EARLIER than these age ranges for any given age group are considered "waiver players," and teams must follow the waiver rules. See the Tournament Policies document for additional info.

For Club Leaders: Note these requirements related to team entries:
Official team declarations are due 3:00pm on Sunday July 17. Please email them to Jeff Rupp at jeffrupp66@gmail.com. If you need to merge with another club, work that out before the deadline.
Entry fees and paperwork are due 3:00pm on Sunday July 24 to Jeff Rupp. Here’s the list of requirements:
- Team roster for each team entered. Highlight any players for whom you’re requesting a waiver, but remember that all teams in the tournament have the right of refusal.
- Coventry Commonwealth Games entry form and liability waiver for each player, organized on team-by-team basis with team rosters.
- Rugby Virginia liability waiver for each player, organized on team-by-team basis with team rosters.
- Photocopied proof of age for players, organized on team-by-team basis with team rosters. Examples of acceptable proof of age include child ID, military ID, passport, birth certificate, learner’s permit, driver’s license, or other government-issued ID.
- Photocopy of CIPP roster from USA Rugby website (clubs and individual players MUST be CIPPed).
- Entry fees for all declared teams. Tag teams: $60 per team. Tackle teams: $80 per team. Make checks payable to SYC Rugby. Or use PayPal (contact Jeff Rupp for this option). Click for blank receipt.
Send or deliver entry fees and paperwork to Jeff Rupp, 7302 Crestleigh Way, Alexandria, VA 22315. Late or incomplete paperwork may result in your team’s exclusion from the tournament.

General Info:
- Concessions, tournament t-shirts, and misc rugby merchandise will be available for sale.
- Two certified athletic trainers will be on site Sunday for the tackle portion of the tournament.
- Post-game social at Lucky’s Grill at Saturday after the games. Lucky’s is located at 7027 Manchester Blvd, Alexandria, VA 22310.
