The Springfield/South County Youth Club offers both house (recreational) and travel (competitive) programs that play both in the fall and the spring. About 2,800 boys and girls play soccer each season. In order to provide these kids with a quality program, over 300 coaches and many other parents will contribute countless hours of volunteer time. The SYC Soccer Program is designed to provide everyone with a positive experience, teach soccer skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship, while contributing to the enjoyment, general health and social needs of the participating boys and girls in the Northern Virginia area.

THE SYC U-8 "BRIDGE" SOCCER PROGRAM

SYC Soccer is continuing the highly successful “Bridge” Soccer program for the Fall 2009 season.  The program seeks to identify rising Under-8 boys and girls in the Fall (current Under-7 boys and girls this past Spring) that have genuine interest/enthusiasm for the game, have acquired/developed a very basic soccer aptitude faster than many of their teammates, classmates and neighbors and would like to play with children of similar outlook on the game.

The program begins with the selection of qualified and interested coaches. Candidates must meet the criterion developed by the SYC Soccer Commissioners. Candidates are selected following submission of an application "package" that includes a soccer resume, sample training plan, have conducted a "basic" youth training session, licensing courses and completed identifiable seminars and conferences.

Each week players will learn skills based on different themes introduced every week.  Children will develop a basic understanding of each element of the game of soccer through games and activities.

The 6 week program is designed around the concept of learning through fun games and play. (Dribbling, passing, shooting, receiving the ball, 1 on 1 moves, footwork and team work).

Players receive professional instruction with Tamir Linhart’s GOLDENBOOT trainers. All children receive an SYC t-shirt and new Mini-kickers receive a size 3 soccer ball.

Registration for the spring will begin in January.  Sessions will be held Mondays at 4:00.
