SYC Families and Friends,

SYC is experiencing exciting growth and change as we celebrate our 60th anniversary. We are busy building out a new 32,000 sq. ft. gym with multipurpose courts, an indoor track, and more! We hope to have it completed and ready for community use in 2023. Families can expect new sports opportunities in the future as SYC builds and expands in our new Clubhouse! Visit our dedicated “Clubhouse” page for progress and updates.

Please help us celebrate our 60th Anniversary by supporting our 60 for 60th Campaign! We are asking our member families and supporters to donate $60 to the SYC Building Fund to commemorate our anniversary and help grow our services to the community.

Families who support the campaign with $60 or more will be:

  • recognized on the SYC website campaign page and Torch newsletter;
  • included on a banner designed by SYC athletes to be displayed in the Clubhouse; and
  • entered into a raffle to win one free SYC sports registration up to  $150

It all started here: In 1958, Paul C. Westlein organized the first youth football team in the Springfield area. In subsequent years, additional teams and programs were added.  In August of 1962, Paul founded the Springfield Boys Club, and it became a chartered member of the Boys Club of America. The Springfield Boys Club became Springfield Youth Club (SYC) in 1977. In May of 2007, Springfield Youth Club’s membership voted to change the name of the club to Springfield/South County Youth Club and maintained the original “SYC” moniker.  We’ve come a long way and can’t wait to see what the next 60 years will bring!
