Requirements

  1. Must have previously participated in any SYC sport.

  2. Has been involved in community volunteerism, particularly in the area SYC serves. This could include scouting, church activities, food bank, coaching, animal welfare, peer tutoring, etc.

  3. Must be enrolled at the time of application as a full-time high school student and have applied (and been accepted or anticipate acceptance) to an accredited twoyear college offering an associate degree or an accredited college or university offering a bachelor’s degree, or technical/trade school.

  4. The successful candidates will be determined based on application responses. GPA will account for 20% towards the decision process. 80% will be based on essay and remaining application responses.

  5. The “George Angulo Scholarship Award” will be presented in person at SYC’s annual meeting on the second Thursday in May. It is mandatory for the recipient to attend the annual meeting. Recipient should attend SYC’s Legacy Run which benefits the George Angulo Scholarship Awards, if possible.

  6. SYC Board of Directors, staff, and their immediate family members are ineligible for this scholarship.

  7. Applications must be received by March 31 of the given year to be eligible for consideration for that year’s scholarship award. The SYC Selection Committee will decide and notify the winners in April of the given year.
