SYC is proud to announce our very first program for children with special needs! Unlimited Potential (UP) is a new pilot program that offers an opportunity for children with special needs to learn the fundamentals of sports in a safe and fun environment. We will offer SOCCER as part of the UP program this spring! Children will learn drills and teamwork alongside their “Pal” who is assigned to each individual child. We are very excited about this new program which gives special needs children a chance to socialize, make friends, and have fun!
Interested in Volunteering? We need Coaches and Pals! You don't have to have experience to volunteer in this program, although head coaches will need to know the fundamentals of the selected sport (in this case – soccer). Pals just need to have a positive attitude and a desire to help.
What is a Pal? A Pal is a student volunteer and special friend assigned to a participant for the season. Pals will assist in drills and games and will help make each athletes’ experience fun and memorable. This is a rewarding experience and great opportunity for students to earn volunteer credits.
We are excited to see you in the program soon! – Carrie Moon, SYC UP Commissioner
