Springfield VA (2/8/2024) - SYC is excited to welcome Gerardo Ramirez as the new SYC Girls Academy (GA) Director. SYC is a new member of the Girls Academy (GA) for the 2024/2025 season for the U13- U19 Girls Age Groups.

Gerardo Ramirez brings close to two decades of coaching experience in the girls youth soccer landscape, having coached at the highest level of youth soccer, including the Development Academy (DA), Girls Academy (GA), Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) and the Olympic Development Program (ODP). Gerardo is a former assistant Technical Director at Vienna Youth Soccer overseeing their entire girls program and most currently provided his expertise as an age group director at Arlington Soccer club. Gerardo is a former VA State Champion, ODP East Regional Champion, and has won a National Championship as a head coach. He is currently pursuing the USSF National "A" Coaching license, holds the National “B” license, and USSF National Youth License.
“I couldn't be more excited to have Gerardo at SYC,” said SYC Technical Director Esteban “Este” Maldonado. “I have been able to see his work closely for many years in different capacities. In addition to being a great coach and leader who will make an immediate impact in our program, he is a fantastic person off the field. I am confident he will help us implement our vision of providing a very positive experience to players, while preparing them for a collegiate career and youth national teams accordingly. Gerardo will be key in helping us nurture an amazing environment for our SYC GA players.”
Gerardo is a former Chivas-Guadalajara youth academy player. Gerardo played professionally in the USL and after his playing career he got a a Bachelor’s of Arts in Government & International Politics from George Mason University.
