About County Basketball
In addition to our SYC Recreational (Rec) Basketball Program, SYC offers a County Basketball program. SYC County Basketball participates in the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League (“FCYBL”) with other select teams from participating youth clubs throughout Northern Virginia. The program is for 5th-8th grade players ready to participate in a higher level of competition. Unlike our Rec program where all registered players are placed on teams, our County program has tryouts where coaches evaluate and select players for their teams.
ZIP CODE REQUIREMENTS
NOTE: SYC County teams are restricted by FCYBL rules to players residing in zip codes assigned by FCYBL. SYC’s zip codes: 22150, 22152, 22153, 22039, 22079, 22310 & 22315. Two zip code exceptions are allowed per team. No player living outside Fairfax County can play via a zip code exception.

COUNTY BASKETBALL INVITATION/ACCEPTANCE FEE
$375 | Players being offered a position on a County Basketball team will receive an email invitation to accept or decline. Players accepting their offers will continue with registration and pay the $375 acceptance fee.
Season Dates/Times
- Start Date: Immediately following tryouts and player selections.
- End Date: early March 2025
- Practices: Weekdays 2/week, day/time/location selected by coaches.
- Games: Varies. Possible late November games. First games start mid-January.
Season Location
Practices at a school in the greater Springfield area.
Games at schools in the Fairfax County area.
