Please consider coaching when registering your child for spring rec soccer! We're always in need of volunteers to accommodate the many children who want to play soccer each season.  Help us get our children out on the field and away from their phones, tablets, and video games and volunteer this spring!

Start Date:   

• U5 Cubs: Week of April 6th
• U6 and Up:
  • Practices may begin no earlier than the week of March 16. Many teams will start a week or two later. First practice will depend on coach availability.
  • First Games tentatively scheduled for April 5

End Date:

• U5 Cubs: May 21st
• U6 and Up: Early June

U5 Cubs:

• U5 sessions: Hooes Road Park.
• U5 Saturday sessions: 9AM - 9:45AM at Laurel Hill ES.

U6 and Up:

• Elementary schools or county fields in the Greater Springfield area.

PLEASE NOTE: To the extent possible, teams are formed from players living in the same general neighborhood. Because of the large number of children in the REC program, SYC can not guarantee consideration of special requests for placement, coaches or teams. Issues such as carpools, day care, work schedules, etc., should be worked out by the individual parents. 

Ages:  4 – 18 as of 12/31/2023

Practices:

• U5 Cubs: Tuesdays (Select Mondays or Wednesdays, 5:45PM - 6:30PM)
• U-6 and U-7 REC teams are limited to one 1-hour practice per week, early evenings. 5PM or later, in general, start times should be no later than 7PM
• U-8, U-9, and U-10 REC teams are limited to two 1-hour practices per week, early evenings. 5PM or later, in general, start times should be no later than 7PM
• U-11 and above REC teams may have two 1-1/2 hour sessions per week, early evenings. 5PM or later, in general, start times should be no later than 7PM

Day/time/location is selected by coaches in March.

Games:

• U5 Cubs: Saturday Scrimmages, Time 9AM.
• U6 and Up: Saturdays. Game schedule available late-March

More information will be available regarding uniforms in January. We will be transitioning to a new uniform starting this Spring season. If you currently have a Capelli uniform, you can continue to wear it until it no longer fits.

$40 - Includes two soccer shirts and two pairs of soccer socks. (1 white, 1 blue)  (Required purchase during registration for players who did not play soccer with SYC this past fall 2023.) These uniforms can be used for subsequent seasons.

SYC teamed up with Capelli Sport beginning the fall of 2023. Capelli Sport will be the official and exclusive provider of uniforms, training and select coaching apparel, and equipment for SYC Soccer.  Players will purchase their Capelli uniform set during registration.

SIZING: Sizing charts are provided during registration and shown below to help you determine the correct jersey and socks sizes for your player. We have sample sizes available in the office! Please feel free to stop by during offices hours to see the sample sizes. Deadline for any sizing changes is February 29th.
