Registration Process

  1. All players complete the Rugby Mindset reading assignment at https://www.sycva.com/rugbymindset.
  2. 7th thru 12th Grade players complete the Rugby Mindset writing assignment at https://www.sycva.com/rugbymindset. You will upload the writing assignment during West End/SYC  Rugby registration.
  3. Retrieve your USA Rugby Member ID from usarugby.sportlomo.com. If you didn't register with USA Rugby for the Rugby Year that began 1 Sep 2020, you must do so at USA Rugby in order to complete West End/SYC Rugby registration. You will upload the USA Rugby Member ID during West End/SYC Rugby registration.
  4. Be prepared to upload school proof (ID, Grade Report, Homeschool note) during registration.
  5. The Gear Store package price for practice jersey, rugby shorts, and socks is $75. Add that to your registration fee(s) to arrive at the total cost to play rugby...still the best deal going!
  6. As always, players will be provided a Spirit Wear shirt to show off to their friends and a rugby ball for practicing at home. These items are included with your registration fee.

We will answer your registration questions during our teleconference on 5 Jan at 730p, (563) 999 2319, 767992#, or anytime at rugby@sycva.com!  In late March, there will also be a mandatory Family Meeting for all players plus at least one parent.

Season Dates

End: MId JUne

 

We plan to offer off-season training on Sunday afternoons in Feb and  Saturday evenings in March with Regular weekday practices starting in March (grade and weather dependent).  Matches will begin on 10 April and run until mid-June  After that, Rugby Virginia will offer the Performance Program (aka all-stars).

We will answer your questions during our Annual Meeting on 18 Mar at 8p via GoogleMeet! This is a mandatory event for all players plus at least one parent.

Days/Times

Start dates for Regular weekday practices are weather and grade dependent.

FIT Touch:  Practices typically on Tues & Thurs from 30 March  through late May. Typical timing is 6 - 7pm.  Matches usually on Saturdays beginning after FCPS Spring Break.

Girls High School teams & Middle School team: Practices on Tues & Thurs from  16 March through late May. Typical timing is 4 - 7pm. Matches usually on Saturdays beginning after FCPS Spring Break.

Boys High School teams: Practices typically on  Sun, Tues, Thurs, & Fri from 2 March through late May. Typical timing is  4-7pm. Matches usually on Saturdays beginning after FCPS Spring Break.

Boys 7/8th & 5/6th Grade teams: Practices typically on Mon & Wed 15 March through late May. Typical timing is 6 -730 pm. Matches usually on Saturdays beginning after FCPS Spring Break.

Coed Youth 3rd/4th Grade team: Practices typically on Mon & Wed 22 March through late May. Typical timing is 6 -730 pm. Matches usually on Saturdays beginning after FCPS Spring Break.

 

Practice Location

Off-season training & early Regular weekday practices in Feb & March will be held on all-weather turf fields in the Springfield area.  April and May practices are likely to be held at Franconia Park.

Proper practice attire requires a practice jersey and rugby shorts. You cannot attend Regular weekday practices without them.
