Open gyms are run by SYC’s County team coaches. Open gym is FREE, but players MUST register to participate. Open gym is an excellent opportunity for players to be seen by County basketball coaches before tryouts in October and is also great for players who just want to play some basketball in a structured, supervised environment.

In addition to our SYC Recreational (Rec) Basketball Program, SYC offers a County Basketball program. SYC County Basketball participates in the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League (“FCYBL”) with other select teams from participating youth clubs throughout Northern Virginia. The program is for 5th-8th grade players ready to participate in a higher level of competition.  Unlike our Rec program where all registered players are placed on teams, our County program has tryouts where coaches evaluate and select players for their teams.

Players who would like to just participate in Open Gyms are not obligated to try out for County Basketball, and vice versa. 

FREE! - Registration for open gyms/county basketball tryouts is FREE, but players must be registered to participate.
