SYC Basketball Referee Training

ADULT REFEREES

Birth Years 9/29/2005 and earlier

You MUST add yourself as a PLAYER in your account to see the referee registration. Select "Basketball (Referees) | Winter 2024/25" as your program.

YOUTH REFEREES

Birth Years 9/30/2005 - 10/31/2012

Parents/Legal Guardians must register youth referees. Select "Basketball (Referees) | Winter 2024/25" as the program.

If you are a returning referee,  have already submitted a Direct Deposit form, and received a payment at least once, you do not have to submit another Authorization/W9 Upload. However if you've had a change in address or other contact information, please resubmit the Authorization/W9 Upload.

All Basketball Referees ARE paid positions.

2023 Winter Season - Referee vs Referee Basketball Game!

Winter 2024/2025 SYC Basketball Referee Training

Minimum age to referee SYC Basketball is 13 or older or  turn 13 during the season (by March 31, 2025).

♦ CLASSROOM TRAINING - 1 MANDATORY session only, no make-up. ♦

Refs new to SYC Basketball, that have not attended classroom training, must register and attend this session to referee in the 2024/25 winter season.

♦ ON-COURT TRAINING - 2 SESSIONS ♦

  • ON-COURT SESSION 1
Date: Saturday, December 7
Time: 10AM-12PM

Location: Key Middle School Gymnasium

  • ON-COURT SESSION 2
Date: Saturday, December 14
Time: 12PM-2PM

Location: Key Middle School Gymnasium

On-Court Training Makeup Date: (only in the event of a cancellation to one of the first two on court sessions): Saturday, December 21.

Refs who have shirts and whistles should bring them to the on-court sessions.

On courts sessions are for new and experienced referees, SYC recommends that all new referees attend both on court training sessions. These sessions are optional for experienced SYC referees.

Referee shirts and whistles will be distributed at the on-court sessions.

** Referees new to SYC Basketball must attend the classroom training and one of the two on court training sessions to referee in the Winter 2024/25 season.
