Springfield/South County's (SYC) House of Speed program was designed to offer exceptionally talented and committed athletes in our track & field program the ability to compete on a wider, national scale, particularly through the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior Olympics.
Athletes invited to the program are offered (beyond the benefits of our traditional track & field program) additional practice times, highly individualized coaching, an increased focus on the minutia of the sport, and access to high-level regional and national youth track meets.
The program is headed by Tanya House and Damon House, two long-time parent coaches of our recreational track & field program. Tanya and Damon, along with the program's other coaches, bring a wealth of experience and knowledge in the topics of endurance running, sprinting, biomechanics, nutrition, and more. Tanya is a former state champion and University of Michigan Big-Ten All-American track athlete where she was part of 3 Big Ten Championship teams for both indoor and outdoor Track and Field.
In addition to regular participation in recreational track, SYC House of Speed athletes will learn and practice in a highly individualized setting with a focus on the smaller details which help make already talented athletes succeed.
The program caters towards all available track distances and field events (including throwing events). This program is designed for athletes 7 - 18.
