West End Rugby is part of the SYC Rugby program and offers high school teams and middle school teams for boys and girls. These teams play a spring season in the Rugby Virginia league; see the current season Game Schedules.

Help Rugby Virginia in its quest to have a RUGBY license plate created by the Virginia DMV. Fill out the application form below and submit it with a check for $25 per car to Rugby Virginia official Stuart Willis. His address is listed within the application file.

May 21, 2016 -- The West End Boys HS rugby team, the #6 seed, won the Tier II national championship with a hard fought 19-15 victory over #1 seed Pelham on a rain-soaked, muddy pitch at the Rugby Athletic Center in Charlotte, NC. Hooker Ieaun Israel led the scoring with two tries, including the game winner; fullback John "Cowbell" LeFevre scored on a spectacular run and glide to the corner, and scrumhalf Jacob Estes added two conversions.
Along the way, West End beat #3 seed St. Thomas Aquinas 19-10 and #2 seed Charlotte Catholic 27-19.

West End's Boys HS Rugby team is playing in the Boys HS Rugby National Invitational Tournament, held May 19-21 in Charlotte, NC. West End is the #6 seed in the combined division, and squares off against #3 seed and defending Kansas state champion St. Thomas Aquinas in first round action Thursday May 19. On Friday the winner faces faces either Charlotte Catholic or North Bay, pending the outcome of their match.

May 30, 2015 -- SYC/West End's Boys HS and Girls HS teams both won the state championships!
The Boys beat Ft Hunt 22-20 in a nailbiter. Down 17-20 with time about to expire, West End scrumhalf and MVP Jacob Estes quick tapped from a penalty on Ft Hunt's 5-m line and dove in for the game-winning try.
The Girls crushed FPYC 73-10 in a game that was never in doubt. MVP was flyhalf Maddie Pennell.
