The Girls Academy is the leading youth development platform for the best female soccer players in the United States. Girls Academy is the only national youth soccer platform that represents the collective vision of member clubs and actively engages the voice of the players to take real ownership of the league. The GA embraces the desire of club members and players to maintain an unrivaled standard of excellence in coaching, competition, and regional and national showcase events throughout the year.

The GA is committed to cultivating an environment that empowers each player to reach their best potential as an exceptional athlete and human being by celebrating the player’s journey with a lifelong love of the game through competition, showcases, and camaraderie.

MISSED SYC GA ID SESSIONS?

SYC Girls Academy & SYC Girls Academy Aspire:

If you missed out ID Sessions please register and send us an email and we will invite you to a training session to get evaluated and see our environment.

The ID Sessions are open to ALL players regardless of club affiliation.

ID Sessions are important for identifying players for the SYC Girls Academy pathway, which includes GA (Tier one) and the newly introduced GA Aspire (Tier two).

The ID sessions are intended for elite players born between 2013-2007 new to SYC Soccer, with the skill, determination, soccer intelligence and focus to play at the highest level. 

All Players will be invited to the SYC Girls Academy & SYC GA2 ID Sessions. We will be having IDs on rolling basis with players invited to training sessions and we will also have an OPEN Tryout/ID Sessions for all age groups .

If you are interested in having your daughter attend a tryout/ID, please fill out the form below. More information about the tryout/ID will be sent out prior to the tryouts/ID.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PLAYING IN THE SYC GIRLS ACADEMY?

There are many benefits of playing in the Girls Academy. These benefits include: 

  • The Girls Academy has quickly become one of the premier recruiting platforms for college coaches. Over the past three years:

  • More than 1,200 GA players have committed to college soccer programs.

  • In the Class of 2024 alone, over 700 players committed to NCAA programs.
  • GA showcases attract hundreds of college scouts, including from top Division I programs like UNC, Stanford, Duke, UCLA, and Florida State.
  • Additionally, GA has strong partnerships with college recruiting platforms, including ScoutingZone and Veo, which provide players with video analysis and direct exposure to college coaches. The college pathway is a multifaceted journey where college coaches strive to recruit the players they feel can most positively impact their programs. Top college programs attend all GA events and the relationship NVA has with college coaches will continue to provide great exposure .

All GA Mid-Atlantic Away league Games are only Day Trips. No need for overnight/hotel  stay for GA away League games (ex: drive there in morning, play at 12pm and come back home in the afternoon- Furthest away  trip 4+ hrs that is just  1x per year)

  • Schedule designed to improve periodization and help reduce the risk of injury 

  • Opportunities to train/play alongside SYC MLS NEXT Academy

  • College exposure at first-class events, matches, and training

  • More meaningful games 

U13-U19 Age Groups for the 2025/2026 seasonal year. 

10 month training / league game calendar:

  • Fall/Spring: 3x team training sessions, 2x goalkeeper training sessions & 1x performance training session per week (during season)

  • Summer/Winter: 2-3x team training sessions, 1x goalkeeper training session & 1x performance training session per week

  • Sports performance at SYC Performance Training Center

  • Periodized schedule to focus on development and reduce the risk of injury and maximize team performance (Led by Director of SYC Sports Performance - Pablo Amaya - DC United First Team Performance Coach)

  • Performance training with periodic physical testing and evaluation

  • Formal and informal individual player development plans and evaluations.

  • Specific goalkeeper training with our SYC GA Goalkeeping Director - Chris Fenner

  • Professional and experienced  licensed coaching staff

  • Coaching staff will have college experience to help players with the recruitment process but will also have support from the SYC GA Director of College Placement (Current College Head Coach)

  • Certified Performance Coaches who track individual player progress and conduct seasonal fitness testing to tailor performance training needs of all players.

  • US Soccer Scouts attend regional matches, national events, nationally held Talent ID sessions, as well as practice sessions

ARE PLAYERS ALLOWED TO PLAY OTHER SPORTS IN THE GIRLS ACADEMY? 

Yes. Players are allowed to play other sports.  SYC GA supports players who play basketball, volleyball, softball, track, and other sports.

WHAT ARE OTHER COLLEGE RECRUITING BENEFITS FOR THE GIRLS ACADEMY & SYC? 

  • Full-time SYC GA Director 

  • Over 150+ College Coaches Scouted our SYC GA girls in 2024/25 GA events

  • Dedicated College Placement  Director at SYC (Current Experienced College Head Coach)

  • College coaches and U.S. Soccer scouts will regularly attend training and league matches to watch SYC GA play

  • College coaches will be given access to videos of Girls Academy matches to evaluate players (through our video capabilities)

  • SYC GA teams also participate in other Girls Academy approved college showcase events to further increase exposure opportunities.
